Life at Springworks: A Day In The Life Of An Operations Intern

Deepika is from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. She was part of TCS as an information process specialist for a year. Apart from this, she has interned across various organisations. At Springworks, she works as an Operations Intern.

Deepika can be summarised in three words: Nature, music and social.

Let’s have a look at her journey!

My journey at Springworks :

I always wanted to be associated with an organisation that would help me experiment, challenge myself and align my goals with my career. While working as an information process specialist at TCS I realised my interests were towards another domain. I was looking for a change and remote work. During my hunt for work, I came across Springworks via LinkedIn. All I thought was “Wow, great stuff”.

I read about Springworks and its products. I was sold when I read about Trivia and EngageWith. During the pandemic, organisations faced challenges in terms of engagement and recognition. Springworks’ solution to these challenges is commendable. There was an opening for an operations intern role and I applied instantly.

My point of contact throughout the entire hiring process was Suchika. There was a great rapport among us and she patiently explained every step. After a quick assignment, I had my interviews lined up. The entire process was seamless and I loved how organised the team was with their updates and follow-ups.

After the preliminary steps were completed, I was officially onboarded. The process started with a WhatsApp group where there were key stakeholders of Springworks. All my queries were answered and it became easier to communicate amongst us. The buddy and manager meetings were very helpful as they gave me a clear idea as to what is expected of me in this role. The People Ops team onboarded me and their induction was crisp and clear.

I virtually connected with my Ops team and I observed how they work for a few days. After I completed my training, I started to pick up tasks. It’s been five months with Springworks and I have learnt a lot. There have been many instances where I have made mistakes but my team was always there and they helped me learn and correct them. During this short span of time, there have been constant check-ins by my team members and HR. I really appreciate their efforts to constantly check on their employees and work on the feedback given.

As an Intern at Springworks, I feel appreciated and valued. Every day I learn something new and look forward to upskilling myself.

What do I do at Springworks?

I am part of the SpringVerify team and I work towards verifying the addresses of the candidates in the background verification process. With this, I also follow up with candidates, stay connected via WhatsApp and also resolve any queries that arise. Furthermore, I keep a checklist when I do this process to avoid any errors and make note of things where I can improve. There is a lot more to learn in this domain therefore I push myself to reach my goals.

Why do I love working at Springworks?

Being remote and flexible is a big win for me. I do have a lot of work at home and the flexible working hours help me to balance a lot of things. My work hours are from 10 am to 7 pm. I love the first half of work because of the Ops Stand-Up call. As we discuss everything but work xD. I set a goal for myself and ensure I complete the assigned tasks by the end of the day.

The work culture is great and it is seen everywhere. Asynchronous communication is being mastered here at Springworks. Even if I belong to a different team, I am aware of what is happening in the organisation. There are follow-ups and updates and team-building activities that make work fun and interesting.

My team is the best as they are available at all times and help me when needed. They provide the space and opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn. I get to share my input and also understand their perspectives. It’s been a great ride so far.

There are many benefits and activities at Springworks that help me ace remote work and fix a routine. Be it the lifestyle spending budget, learning budget or workation, there is everything that one looks for. Every now and then when I find the time, I play the games launched on Trivia or participate in the weekly fun activities by HR.

In these five months, I have seen a lot of changes in Springworks in terms of updating policies, bringing in new tools that make our work easier and launching new products. Albus is my favourite, it helps me in a lot of cases and helps me save time. Although I am more inclined towards Trivia, EngageWith is a morale boost. It’s a nudge for the entire team to give their best.

I have learned a lot in a short span of time and I want to understand every function of Operations and explore it.

Sneak-Peek into my life outside Springworks!

When I don’t work, I spend time organising things at home and gardening. I am a shopaholic, so I spend my weekends shopping or I visit my grandparents. And some days it’s just spending time at home and watching my go-to shows ( F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Big Bang Theory & Modern Family). On the travel front, I would love to explore Europe this year.
